The Shooter

I'm not sure which annoys me more - schlepping over to the post office and standing in line to buy both the Federal and VAState migratoroy bird stamps - or hearing that The Shooter doesn't feel he has to. The most telling thing about this whole thing however, is the silence of the NRA? Rather than using this high profile hunting accident to promote gun safety, they are silent. A gutless, but not surprising deriliction of duty, for political gains. And what about The Shooter him self? What about taking responsibility for ones actions? Anyone who has taken a gun safety class knows that its ALWAYS THE SHOOTERS RESPONSIBILITY to ensure that down-range is clear. But instead, The Shooter's spin machine chooses to blame the victim for not announcing him self, which, by rule is considered a "courtesy", but is not a field safety requirement. The ultimate burden of safety lies with the person holding the gun. Taken by its self, this incident is just that - an unfortunate incident - but coupled with The Shooter's track record, it could also be seen as another sad example of our "leadership's" inability to set the correct example.

But maybe I should give The Shooter the benefit of the doubt - the victim definately had some WMD on him. The ariel reconnisance is undeniable.

A Post Script from Dr. K: "If he was willing to shoot and kill thousands of people without evidence of WMD, he surely would be willing to shoot a few quail without a stamp. Minor detail for the great man."
